Photo of the Week

The River Etive drains water from Rannoch Moor through the narrow gorge of Glen Etive on its westerly course to the sea. Channeled by the steep sides of metamorphic rock created during a period of volcanic activity around 420 million years ago, the water’s dynamic flow has produced potholes. Boulders and pebbles tumble and grind out depressions in the river bed over time, eroding deep hollows.
