Photo of the Week

Lapwings Vanellus vanellus, also known as peewits or green plovers, are semi-migratory birds that overwinter in the UK. However, their numbers have been declining, dropping by 49 per cent in England and Wales between 1987 and 1998, due to changes in farming methods and habitat loss. These elusive birds can be found in wetlands, meadows, and sparse hill country across the UK, with their distinctive aerial displays and striking black and white plumage.
