At Dinas Dinlle near Caernarfon a huge expanse of sandy beach is exposed at low tide. A landscape of shifting pools and ridges, the beach and backshore is a Site of Special Scientific Interest which provides habitat for many species of birds including shelduck, knot, curlews and gulls. In the background are the Yr Eifel Mountains of the Lleyn Peninsular.
