Kingsdale in the Yorkshire Dales features a deep U-shaped profile carved by an ancient glacial flow and framed by massive limestone escarpments. These Great Scar Limestone cliffs and benches, rise in spectacular rugged steps high above the valley floor. The area is a prime example of a glaciokarst, where glacier ice scoured the limestone and subsequent chemical weathering has created distinctive surface patterns.
