Ben Lomond 974m dominates the skyline as cold winter mist sinks over Loch Ard in the Menteith Hills of the Trossachs. The landscape in this ‘miniature alpine’ area combines steep-sided mountains, ancient woodland, deep freshwater lochs and narrow glaciated glens that were shaped during the last Ice Age. This wild region of fragmented Atlantic oak woodland and mountains supports elusive species like pine marten, otters and osprey.
Richard started photographing landscapes as a hobby in 2012. With
a keen interest in weather phenomena as part of his compositions,
Richard spent most of that time capturing Dartmoor in Devon then
moving to Stirling in Scotland where he now enjoys visiting what
Scotland has to offer from the peaks to the coastline, highlands and
islands.
