Glyder Fach 994m and Bristly Ridge, seen from the head of Cwm Tryfan. The whole of the Glyderau range in Eryri have much exposed bedrock and thin fragile soils that support only hardy montane vegetation including club mosses and relic arctic alpine species. Glyder Fach’s summit is composed from metamorphosed tuff; subsequent ‘freeze-thaw’ weathering over millennia has created its fiercely jagged profile.
Fran’s photography explores the landscapes and habitats of the British Isles, especially geology and plant life. Fran is the author of three books, including ‘The Peak District’ and ‘Shore to Summit’, and has had her work widely published.
