Mynydd Mawr 155m on Pen Lleyn, is the westernmost point of land in North Wales. The viewpoint from here extends to County Wicklow in Ireland and the coast of West Wales 100k to the south. Once a Bronze Age settlement, more recently a Coastguard lookout station for observing the wild surrounding coast, it is now a protected area with AONB status. The high rocky headland has a great diversity of species including the rare chough, peregrine falcon, yellowhammer, cinquefoil and offshore in the Enlli Sound, Risso’s dolphins.
