Photo of the Week

As its English names suggest, the Gatekeeper butterfly Pyronia tithonus, also known as the Hedge Brown, is often encountered where clumps of flowers grow in gateways and along hedgerows or field margins. The butterfly has alighted on Scentless Mayweed Tripleurospermum inodorum which is widespread in open and disturbed agricultural land, heath or patches of scrub.
