The Marsh Marigold Caltha palustris is a widespread flower of ponds, marshes, damp meadows, ditches and wet woodland and is a common and conspicuous spring flower. In some communities the early spring flowering of marsh marigold was considered a good omen and the known ‘Mayflowers’ were brought into the home.
