Old Man’s Scar rises above Skyreholme Beck near Appletreewick in North Yorkshire. Adjoining these small dry valleys is a deep rocky gorge called Trollers Gill, a name probably derived from a story in 1882 that named a local wizard or Troller in the legends and fairy stories of these Dales.
