The Greylag Goose Anser anser is one of the last species to migrate north each year, gaining them the name greylag, as they ‘lag’ behind the other migrating geese. Indeed, Greylag geese frequently remain resident in the UK and are found on low ground around the UK and Scotland’s coast, in grassy fields, wetlands or lakeshores throughout the year.
