The Orange-tip butterfly Anthocharis cardamines is found throughout England, Wales and Ireland, but further north and especially in Scotland, it is only found locally. The Orange-tip is a true sign of spring, being one of the first species to emerge that has not overwintered as an adult. The long proboscis of the butterfly is about to draw nectar from an early spring plant species, Lady’s Smock or Cuckoo flower Cardamine pratensis.
Richard started photographing landscapes as a hobby in 2012. With
a keen interest in weather phenomena as part of his compositions,
Richard spent most of that time capturing Dartmoor in Devon then
moving to Stirling in Scotland where he now enjoys visiting what
Scotland has to offer from the peaks to the coastline, highlands and
islands.
