Photo of the Week

After nesting on upland moors in solitary pairs during the breeding season, golden plovers Pluvialis apricaria flock together and over-winter on low lying fields and seashores where the food is plentiful. At high tide, plovers will await the uncovering of their feeding habitat from the backshore grassland, heathland and dunes.
