Sea trout Salmo trutta change from a silvery colour with black spots to brown as they swim up freshwater streams from the sea. Like the salmon, sea trout travel long distances at sea making their way up into small freshwater streams to spawn. Both sea trout and salmon are relying on the connectivity and condition of a wide range of habitats to complete their life cycle. Both require a stable gravel bed in which to spawn and tree cover along river and stream margins to provide habitats for the invertebrates on which they feed.
Richard started photographing landscapes as a hobby in 2012. With
a keen interest in weather phenomena as part of his compositions,
Richard spent most of that time capturing Dartmoor in Devon then
moving to Stirling in Scotland where he now enjoys visiting what
Scotland has to offer from the peaks to the coastline, highlands and
islands.
