Castail Liath 731m seen from Loch Druim Suardalain is the higher of the two peaks of Suilven in the Assynt Wilderness of Sutherland. In this region all the most prominent peaks like Canisp, Suilven, Quinag and Cul Mor were formed during the last Ice Age when they were left exposed above the ice sheets as nunataks, and now remain as inselbergs. The John Muir Trust is a partner in the Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape Partnership that manages this outstanding wilderness area.
Richard started photographing landscapes as a hobby in 2012. With
a keen interest in weather phenomena as part of his compositions,
Richard spent most of that time capturing Dartmoor in Devon then
moving to Stirling in Scotland where he now enjoys visiting what
Scotland has to offer from the peaks to the coastline, highlands and
islands.
