Photo of the Week

Common Kingfishers Alcedo atthis use regular perches from where they can spot fish. The presence of a kingfisher is indicative of freshwater community health. Clear, clean water provides healthy fish diversity with trees and shrubs on the banks for perching and following prey. In hard winters kingfishers sometimes migrate to the coast to find food in marshes and brackish lagoons.
