Small Copper Butterfly Lycaena phlaeas is a small, fast flying butterfly that, once settled, is unmistakable with its bright copper-coloured forewings. This butterfly favours open land where nectar sources and food plants are found, such as undisturbed grassland and heath. Though it remains a common and widespread species, the Small Copper declined throughout its range during the twentieth century.
